Call for Research Participants: Clients’ Experiences of Racial Microaggressions in Counselling
Research Participation Opportunity
UPCA members are invited to support an important research project exploring clients’ experiences and perceptions of racial microaggressions within counselling. This study aims to deepen understanding of how racial microaggressions may be experienced within therapeutic relationships and the potential impact on client wellbeing and engagement.
The research is being conducted by Professor Naomi Moller and Professor Andreas Vossler (The Open University), Dr Faisal Mahmood (Birmingham Newman University), and Dr Biljana van Rijn (Metanoia Institute). The findings are intended to contribute to greater awareness, inform practice, and support the development of more inclusive and responsive therapeutic environments.
Members are encouraged to share this opportunity, where appropriate, with clients who may wish to contribute their experiences to the study. Participation offers an opportunity to inform research that seeks to strengthen understanding of race, difference, and relational practice within counselling and psychotherapy.
