Responding to Police Requests for Counselling Records

Thursday, 4 June 2026 | 11:00am – 1:00pm | Online

UPCA members are invited to attend this training webinar hosted by Rape Crisis England & Wales in partnership with the Centre for Women’s Justice. The session focuses on responding to police requests for counselling records and other third-party material in cases involving sexual violence.

This webinar is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, and other practitioners who may receive such requests in the course of their work. It will provide guidance on the legal and ethical considerations involved, particularly in light of recent changes to the law introduced in January 2026.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of how to respond to requests in ways that prioritise the rights, wellbeing, and confidentiality of survivors, while remaining compliant with current legal frameworks.

Members are encouraged to consider attending this session as part of their ongoing CPD and to support informed, ethical practice in this complex area of work.
